Areca Restore

Areca Restore from Back up Config File

1. Assume you backed up to a USB drive on your old PC. Now the PC is gone.
2. The configuration file for Areca goes onto the USB drive. If you have a encryption password it is removed from the back-up.
3. The backup file is on your USB drive in the "area_config_backup" folder. The name will look like this "203608206.bcfg" Edit this file.
4. Insert the XML attribute with your password. encryption_key="thepassword"
5. Change this XML attribute to match where your USB (files) to restore are mounted on your restoration PC. This rescue PC is Linux. path="/mnt/sdc1/203608206"

ON THE NEW PC

1. Run Areca on another PC.

2. Workspace, Open workspace

3. Navigate to the "area_config_backup" folder on the USB drive.

4. Restore your files.
